Happy New Year!

It is the season for resolutions and number one on most people’s list is getting in better shape.

Starting a new fitness routine can seem overwhelming in achieving your goals for a svelte physique, so I have a few tips to help you set yourself up for success and see some progress to motivate further efforts.

EMSCULPT

EMSCULPT is everywhere and all the rage right now, why because it works! Paddles are placed on target areas such as abs, glutes, arms, etc., and utilizes electromagnetic energy to force high-intensity contractions and hold them beyond what we are able to create on our own.  The result is improved tone, strength, and reduction of fat in the targeted areas. No downtime, no sweat; what is the catch?  It requires a series of 4-8 sessions to see significant results and remember it is not a substitute for mindful eating and cardiovascular exercise.

Dietary choices

I strongly believe that one’s dietary choices are the single most important factor in your general health, wellness, and vitality.  Select fresh nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables with each meal and eat them first to fill up on those prior to the more caloric dense and fatty foods.  Take your supplements right before your meal with a glass of room temp water to help curb your appetite. Quantity control is important as well as quality in the long term game. Do your prep work.  Keep pre-washed and sliced veggies and fruits so they can be your quick-grab snack alternatives.

Dry January

Giving your body a break on alcohol intake is a great idea for everyone. Not only is alcohol tough on the liver and brain, it takes a toll on your skin making it appear lackluster and dull.  Alcohol converts to sugar when metabolized, so you will enjoy a noticeable improvement in your waistline as an added bonus.  Enjoy sparkling water with lime and waking up with mental clarity and positivity each morning.

Write it down

Set some specific goals for yourself that are realistic.  If you want to lose 30 pounds, break it down into reasonable and achievable increments.  2 pounds a week for 15 weeks.  Know there will be some you lose more and some less, but you should be close to maintaining your trajectory.

Some tricks and hacks:

  • Infrared Sauna
  • Walking your neighborhood daily
  • Taking the stairs
  • House work and gardening
  • Not eating after 6 pm
  • Fast mimic dieting
  • Eliminating refined sugar, alcohol, and flour for a month

This week’s giveaway to help you kickstart your goals is a complimentary EMSCULPT session. You must be following @J_Derme and @SoCaMomoments, like the post, and comment EMSCULPT. The winner will be announced in next week’s post.

Wishing everyone a fabulous 2021!
