Pop Pie Co. of San Diego brings its all-butter crust sweet and savory pies to Orange County.
Pie-Not closed but Pop Pie Co. is slated to open in the same Costa Mesa location in mid-September.
The San Diego-based restaurant with the signature all-butter crust pies has been a draw in University Heights and wanted to branch out, said Steven Torres, who co-owns the shop with Executive Chef Gan Suebsarakham .
“We love the enthusiastic response we get from customers day in and day out about our home-style pies,” Torres said. “When Pie-Not approached us about the opportunity to bring our product to a new community of pie lovers in Orange County, we didn’t hesitate. We’ve had plans for expansion for a while now, and this was a perfect match.”
The shop serves hand pies and single-serve pies in savory and sweet flavors, such as “Green Hog and Cheese,” chicken pot pie, Aussie Meat Pie and a vegan pie made with roasted veggies and yellow curry. For the sweet-tooth, they make coconut cream, key lime and other pies which are available in 9-inch versions or by the slice.
Portland’s Heart Coffee Roasters will provide beans for the coffee bar and Pop Pie’s sister scoop shop Stella Jean’s will make its signature treat, PiesCream, a combo of pie and ice cream.
