As a single mom in sunny Southern California, I am always looking for more time in the morning. I have to get my two sons ready for school, pack their lunches, and check my email before getting to work. Then I can finally get myself ready and presentable for the workplace.   I enjoy playing with my makeup and trying new looks; however, my morning routine affords me little time to get my face on! I need a few products that can help me look professional and polished with a few minutes of application time. When I run out of my basics, it’s comforting to know I can replace these products with a quick visit to CVS or Target! I’m always at Target, aren’t you?

So here’s my take on a quick makeup routine that will help you look fresh and ready to take on the world. Whether you have a play date at the park or a presentation to the Board:

1)  Covergirl Aqua Smoothers

The foundation comes with a unique sponge for quick application and plenty of  great coverage – approximately $9.99.  An ideal way to hide any blemishes or uneven skin tone, and provide smooth looking skin that is radiant and fresh.

2)  L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara

Whether it is in black – or cobalt blue for a unique effect – approximately $10.99, this mascara is a best seller. L’Oreal provides fluffy lashes, and it doesn’t clump like other mascaras. Plus L’Oreal knew they had a hit – they have come up with several new colors like cobalt blue (pictured below), and recently they added burgundy!

3)  Covergirl Cheekers Blush

Try it in Rose Silk – approximately $4.99.  This shade is universal and will look great on almost everyone.  Just swipe across the cheek once using the enclosed brush and sweep on the apples of your cheeks.  It gives just a hint of color to help you look awake and ready for the day!

4)  Clinique Chubby Stick

Take a chance with the Two Ton Tomato for those who love a beautiful red or try Mega Melon for those who like something more subtle.  Approximately $14.99 each.  Crayon makeup is a relatively new concept and many cosmetic companies have come up with crayon makeup in not only lip color but also in eye color, foundation, blush and concealer.  You can pretty much do a full face of makeup using these crayons.  Two Ton Tomato from Clinique is a perfect blue hue of red, and if you love red lipstick you know how hard it is to find a good red. Mega Melon pictured here has the same great ease of a crayon only in a more muted and subtle color.  Both colors provide a creamy lip color for softer lips.

If there is still time…

5)  Try L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Eyeliner

Whatever works for you, try it  in black, brown, grey, blue, or purple.  This eyeliner stays on all day and glides on your lids without tugging.  It has a creamy formula which creates a soft look.   Line on the top or line on the bottom and you’re ready to go!

Ready to Face the Day!

This makeup routine will take about 10 minutes and is well worth it – I’m ready to face the day without looking overdone.  These products work hard and stay put – plus they won’t break my makeup budget!  Each of these products can also be used on their own so feel free to put on foundation and eyeliner one day – or just the lip crayon and blush another day.  See how much time you have, apply accordingly, and always have fun with makeup!
