Quick Summer Skincare Treatments

Hello gorgeous. We interrupt your regularly scheduled scrolling for a PSA, that’s correct an
important notification.

Summer is fast approaching! The reality of public appearances sans face masks is just around
the corner. With only one month before the official start of summer, medical spas and plastic
surgery offices are working at maximum capacity to get you summer ready in record time.
With that in mind, what are some quick fixes you can do to get ready for your big reveal?

Let’s start with the fundamentals, the core essentials for optimal health: good sleep hygiene, healthy eating, regular exercise, stress management, socialization, and avoidance of sugar, tobacco, and alcohol (minimize please). If you implement just these alone in 30 days you will look and feel more vibrant and youthful.

Now, let’s talk about some minimally invasive interventions, things you can do that have little
to no downtime but will provide you with a visible improvement.

For those unwanted lines of expression, neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and
Xeomin have been in use for years. They take 14 days for full effect and will provide you with a
happier, more relaxed, and approachable appearance. The primary downside is that you can
develop some bruising at the injection site which typically resolves within a week. National
average cost $12/unit.

For improvement of pore size, texture, luminosity, and radiance of your skin: Clear and Brilliant
Laser or Microneedling with PRP are excellent procedures for providing a rapid visible
improvement with all these issues. Clear and Brilliant will make you appear a bit sunburned for
about 24 hours, National average cost is about $500/treatment and with Microneedling you are
red for about 4 days, average cost around $600/treatment. Both modalities require sun
avoidance for 2 weeks post procedure and both provide your skin with a youthful glow and
radiance.

If you are looking for improvement in the upper eyelid skin, and don’t want the downtime or
scarring associated with an Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty, you can achieve a noticeable
improvement using Subnovii Plasma Pen. It does not take the place of surgical correction, but
with about a week of walking around with the tiny dotted carbon crusts, by week two most
patients are reporting they are pleased with the level of improvement relative to the ease of
the treatment. This does require a good hour of numbing cream prior to treatment in order to
have adequate analgesia due to the hypersensitive nature of the eyes. You need to be
prepared for local swelling the following day, and allowing the crusts to fall off spontaneously
can take up to 9 days. Also, patients must avoid sun for 2 weeks post. National average cost for
upper eyelid Subnovii Plasma Pen treatment is $1800.

My favorite tightening device at the moment is the NuEra Tight, by Luminus. This versatile
device uses monopolar radio frequency to provide a variety of services. It feels like a hot stone
massage, so without any discomfort, it can tighten and tone crepe skin in delicate areas such as
the face, neck, and upper arms. It can tighten loose skin and soft tissue on the elbows, knees,
abdomen and bikini line. It can smooth deep lines, such as those of the declotte and the
ultimate bonus, it creates a setting for lipoloysis, in other words it can reduce collections of
stubborn adipose tissue, such as under the chin or on the belly. There is little to no downtime,
bruising or pain.

This device is like a magic eraser for your body, and if I didn’t see it firsthand, I would say it
sounds too good to be true. Average national cost for this procedure runs around $500 per area
(about 5” X 6”).

Please remember these are all medical services, so be sure to have them administered by a
licensed medical provider. Don’t be afraid to ask for your provider’s credentials and training
certifications; the manufacturers provide them after training for the majority of these treatment
modalities. If someone’s pricing seems too good to be true, there is likely a reason, so be
protective of your health and safety.

Wishing you a beautiful, healthy, and happy summer!
