Even though we are starting to see Christmas decorations everywhere, I personally love to take the time to decorate for fall! Orange hews and warm tones give my house such a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Over the years, I’ve come to really enjoy creating my own fall decorations from things that I can find around the house. It’s a great way to recycle and get my kids involved in being creative with things we usually throw away. I’ve gathered a few adorable crafts below that a fellow blogger, Gina, created. Be sure to check out her blog and Instagram @damnginacooks for some recipe and craft inspo!
Wine Cork Pumpkins
Let’s face it, we all have some extra wine corks lying around the house. These little pumpkins are the perfect way to find a use for them!
What you’ll need:
- Wine Corks
- Wire
- Beads
- Orange paint or Orange markers
- Fake leaves
- Hot glue gun
- Start gluing the corks together, keeping to a hexagonal shape.
- Glue a cork on top to act as the stem.
- Paint or color some of the corks orange while keeping the corks that have designs on them blank.
- Add beads to the wire and twirl it to create a vine shape.
- Glue fake leaves and wire vines to the top.
Fall Wreath
Wreaths aren’t exclusive to Christmas anymore! The key to the perfect fall wreath is adding on all the autumn staples: anything pumpkin related and of course, scarecrows.
What you’ll need:
- Grapevine wreath
- Sunflower
- Flowers/cotton assortment
- Scarecrow
- Candle lid
- Wire
- Glue gun
- GET CREATIVE! Any leftover fall decor/crafts you have can be added here!
- ASSEMBLE THE FALL GOODIES!!!!! (sunflowers, leaves, cotton, flowers, scarecrows, candle lids, etc.)
- Use the wire to attach any decor pieces to the wreath.
- Use the glue gun to set anything in place you can’t set with the wire.
Stuffed Pumpkins
Crafting AND recycling? Sign me up! These little stuffed pumpkins are the perfect way to recycle some plastic bags you may have around the house. Don’t forget to save more wine corks!
What you’ll need:
- Wine corks
- Plastic bags for stuffing
- Fall colored fabric
- Fake leaves
- Scotch tape
- Glue gun
- Cut your fabric into a circle.
- Gather your plastic stuffing and form it into a ball. Scotch tape can help shape it and stay in place.
- Place stuffing in the center of the circle and pull up the sides of the fabric to cover the plastic.
- When the plastic is completely covered, glue the fabric flaps together so it doesn’t unravel.
- Glue the cork on top to act as a stem.
- Glue the fake leaves around the cork.
Now you are all set to turn your home into a cozy and inviting autumn atmosphere!
